Disclaimer: I do not recommend trying to become root on your Nokia N800 unless you know what you are doing. You don’t want to screw up your device or have it fail on you. That said, if you really need to become root on your N800 then here is how, but you acknowledge that you are proceeding entirely at your own risk.

First, if you are just looking for the Terminal on your Nokia N800, all you have to do is go to Utilities > X Terminal in the menu.

Second, if you need to become root, you have to install a package aptly called becomeroot which you can search for online, I got it here

Third, after you install that package go to this link and follow the instructions under the section titled “The straightforward way”.

Fourth, if for some reason that method doesn’t work for you, you can always try ssh. The directions are on that same page.

Again, I don’t recommend messing with it if you don’t really need to, but, if you do, that’s how.
